Hello, and welcome all, to the town page for Stormhaven!

(Edit: 1/12/12) We have a Waypoint now! :D Thanks, Zerg!

Coordinates are: (1510, 64, 414)

Stormhaven is an active community, and thriving medieval/fantasy-styled town, always developing to better suit you, the future town resident. Here, we do what we can to help enhance your building experience, by providing building advice, assistance, and the occasional materials and tools. The goal is to make Stormhaven a completely operational town, in which *most* needs can be acquired within a relatively small area. The town is regularly checked for grief, and any damages are quickly repaired. The entire area is well-lit, to prevent the majority of monsters from spawning within it's walls.

Currently, public structures include the Town Hall, Windmill, Bakery, Outdoor Bazaar, Blacksmith, Tavern/Inn, Challenge Tower, Cathedral, Lighthouse, and Public Nether Portal.

In the future, we'd like to begin work on more public-use buildings, including, but certainly not limited to: Assorted Shops, Public Farms, a Potion Brewery, Enchantment Hut, Bank, Library, Armory, and Game Houses. And, of course, if you think of anything else, by all means, let me know.

Rules & Community Guidelines
As a member, you must agree to follow these, for the safety and best interest of the community.

Do not build unless you have been approved as a Town Resident.
Do not build or break blocks on other players' land without their permission.
Try to avoid using fire and lava, unless I can verify it's safe.
Only use TNT when I can monitor it's use.
Try to build with the landscape, and avoid leveling too much.
Build realistically. (At least to a point where it looks like it would stand in real life)
Keep your structures within your own lot. (Ask if you need more space, and we can work something out.)
No mining within town walls. (Use /mine instead. More diamonds that way anyway.)
Keep basements, at most, 10-15 blocks deep, to avoid colliding with underground structures.

Be courteous to other players, and other structures.
Use constructive criticism if you see an area that needs improvement.
If you see a grief, report it to the owner and/or a member of the staff.
Be aware of your surroundings. (If a player has built a home on a cliff, overlooking a meadow, that may not be the best place to build a 12-story tower.)
Have fun!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as basic building guidelines go, the town has a medieval/fantasy theme. Try to reflect that in your building style. Generally, I'm not too picky about this, as long as it somewhat looks like it belongs in with the rest of the buildings. Try to be realistic when building, even with whimsical structures; if it looks like it would tip over with the sneeze of a mouse, either add supports, or a good reason for it being as it is. Also, if possible, refrain from overusing bright/vivid colors in the visible structure of your buildings (using them for interior work, however, is entirely up to you :D ).
You may build a basement under your house, but don't make it incredibly deep. Stick to 10-15 blocks under your house at it's deepest. Keep your basement within the boundaries of your lot, to prevent tunneling into another player's basement.

Ingame Name: Kaesaj
Ingame hours: Roughly 130-140
Desired job: (what do you want to build?) I can build whatever you need built, though I prefer simple houses and castle walls and the like.
Projects you've participated in before: Not many. I ran a small town and built a castle on the old world.
Why do you want to join Thios?: Because Irish_Ninja is a cool dude and I like the theme.
Additional notes: When I'm building something I like to build with other people. When I build alone, it often doesn't turn out looking how I wanted it to, so it's better if there is more than one person so there is more input of ideas.

I stumbled upon this while surfing Youtube, and I thought I might post it in here, because it really fits the general theme I had in mind when creating this town. If you're at a loss for building ideas, or just need some inspiration, check it out. By no means is this exactly how I want the town to look, nor is it a limitation on the things you MAY build, it's just a video reference that bears a pretty good resemblance to the picture I had in my head.
