Super simple explanation: We're creating a 2nd save game.

Simple explanation:

• A one-way "ferry" will allow you to move to Pandora. (Optional; you can completely ignore the new continent if you want)
• After 3 weeks you will be able to travel between planets freely.
• During the 3 weeks you will be able to travel back to the old planet if you have <= 27 stacks of items with you and no armor equipped.
• Your ender chest will be disabled, if you switch.
• You will not be able to take anything with you.
• The end will not be reset
• The nether will not be reset
• Items will not be reset
  
• This happens in 1.7.2

Someday there will be a map expansion. A new 20k x 10k "planet" to the north(?) of the main continent will be created using a 1.7.2 seed. No new strongholds will be added to the map.

For 3 weeks after the continent is made, this will be known as "happy time.". This is to appease those long time players who really want a map reset, items and all.

During "Happy Time", the following will happen to players who use the "ferry":

• A one-way "ferry" (an ender dragon.) will allow you to move to the new continent.
• You may not take anything.
• Nether portals will take you to the main map nether, but 50,000 blocks in some direction, and this change will be permanent (just like the last happy fun time)
• /spawn, /rules, /home and will take you to your current continent.
• Mods will not be able to use their ender chest. This is to let them be able to /tp between continents freely without taking items with them.
• /mine will take you to a different /mine than old continent people.
• /mine's nether will be 50,000 blocks in some direction
• Web trade will be disabled

When you use the "ferry":

• You will be mailed the coordinates of your current /home
• Your current /home will then be reset to a random spot.
• Your /setjob will be reset.
• /earth will take you back to your old home.
• You will be ferried over to the new continent.
• You will be flagged. So you wont be able to use your enderchest. For 3 weeks.

If you don't use the "ferry" during happy time:

• You are not affected at all.

After "Happy Time" is over:

• Everything'll be like it is now with the old continent and new continent. Except there'll be another planet called Pandora.

Pandora Spawn will be a wood hut. If someone builds a home tree during these 3 weeks.. we'll move spawn there. After it's over we wont have that spawn anymore. NC spawn will be spawn for the whole server.

While I do not like the messing with nether portal calculations permanently, I get why needs to being done to separate the people for 'Happy Time', new content for the nether since oc/nc was created will be present and it will ensure that people in (on?) Pandora get space in the nether that isn't claimed.

Questions:
Any chance of getting some coordinates/data on where you plan for Pandora to be (coordinates of borders, etc)? Is it 20k x and 10k y?

Could it be made along side the current continent? Just wondering if it might make it nicer if you decide to remove the borders like you've done for oc/nc. Maybe square the map up a bit.

Any chance of getting exact, authoritative data on the current borders of oc/nc for both edge of continent and nether portal calculation purposes? (java, pseudocode, forumlae, etc?).

Uuugh so I have to wait a whole month before I can move over my twenty x2 chests full of clay/glass/ice/snow to make a awesome floating city? I don't really get the U DUN NO TELEPORT BRA thing, because the thing I mean the thing noobs complain about "we want it to be survival and a even playing field" people only get rich from the hours they put in, not because they didn't start all at the same time.
Dunno seems kinda pointless to wait a month before I can start actual work on a city... I need to start work next month too :/

So its bigger nc, with no new spawn, and 1.7 generation? sweet! *thank god, don't wanna make another spawn* I like the hometree idea however..

You can have an oc home and a nc home at the same time?

I'd be willing to help clear land and stuff when I'm online to make a hometree if you want to get a first wp setup for Pandora. Were you planning something like the current trees that have been made or maybe a evergreen or some kind of alien looking thing?

I think that's the plan if I understand it correctly. Due to the new temperature system for biomes it may be difficult to get them all in one map, hence the larger size. With the current vote in favor of ice plains spikes it looks like we'll be optimizing for colder biomes which might make it more difficult to find the mesa/savanna biomes.

My idea:
My major project on this map will be to make an arboretum, see my post in Projects for more info on that.
In the 'Retum I'm planning to make larger, man-made trees, as opposed to just sapling kinds. I have a Very Large tree, that In going to build in the center, and In the canopy I can fit everything zerg wants for this 'spawn' to have. Spawn in the canopy of the largest tree in an arboretum. Problem is i have to do it in 3 weeks. Like/dislike?

So in theory, you could walk those 50k blocks to get back to nc? Or there will be limits on the borders.

Well, if you had /sethome somewhere in the old continent before the nc came out, you would be able to do /oc and go to where you /sethome at in the old continent before. For players who didn't /sethome in the oc before the nc came out, /oc brings them to the old continent spawn. The players who want to go to the old continent spawn when /oc brings them to their old /home, would do /wp spawn.

And then /home would bring them to wherever they had /sethome at. (Such as somewhere in the new continent)

At least, according to my knowledge this is how it is.
