It has come to my attention that some members of this community have not watched HBO’s smash hit The Wire.

This is somewhat forgivable for anyone who simply hasn’t heard of it, but it’s hard to excuse for those who know about the show and still haven’t watched. You’re missing out on one of the greatest TV series ever made.

Here are just a few of the unforgettable characters you’ll meet:

Dominic West as Jimmy McNulty, the detective who can’t help getting in his own way

Lance Reddick as Cedric Daniels, calm, sharp, and commanding

Sonja Sohn as Kima Greggs, tough, dedicated, and human in every sense

Wendell Pierce as Bunk Moreland, the detective with cigars, wit, and plenty of one-liners

Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, the smartest operator on the streets

Michael Kenneth Williams as Omar Little, a legend in his own right

Wood Harris as Avon Barksdale, the crime boss who built an empire
