Making warnings go away sooner.

Making warnings go away sooner.

by zerg960 » Mon Oct 31, 2011 8:33 pm

I'm proposing to make warnings (not bans) disappear after a week or so of them being issued.

I'm willing to go either way with this; my mind is not made up.

I don't know how to moderate; what is a warning or a ban, so I don't know whether this can be done:

Maybe we can have 2 different levels of warnings: Minor and major (obv. not major, but higher than minor). This would mean that you could make the minor ones go within a week, and the major ones go either never, or a longer period of time...

I don't know if the difference between minor and major is enough to make this happen, but hey; it's just an idea.

If not, then I do believe that warnings should go sooner, but maybe a little longer than 1 week; two weeks maybe? I mean, a griever/troll can go without grieving/trolling for a week; but can they resist it for two?

Can they resist for a month? :> Yeah, but I think 2 weeks is a good amount...

The forum is currently set so that warns go away after 90 days. I like that, personally, although I would compromise down to 1 month. ;)

So, is this acceptable:

2 weeks for warnings in game (both major and minor)
Indefinitely keeping records of of bans in game

4 weeks for warnings on forums (both major and minor)

That seems good to an extent, but what's the point in having minor and major warnings if they require the same time to go? You could possibly code something so if you get, say 2 or 3 major warnings, they will not go away, or for a longer time. OR, you could do the forum ban type thing, where the first warning (for major) will take 2 weeks, second will take 4 weeks etc. Minor warnings could be something like 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks etc; or less.

There's currently no distinction between a major or minor warning.

Other than 'ban' or 'no ban'.

Personally i think were just a little bit too generous on all the warnings and bans...So i would like warnings to stay forever.
