Welcome bot?

by Mythic316 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 4:18 am

On fluffyborn.net there is a bot that is called the *welcome bot*. When a new player joins this forum then the welcome would automatically post a thread welcoming that person.

There's problems with it. I suggest not using it. Let's keep it old fashioned.

What's better, a caring welcome or the automated? It's just...nice.

The automated one is nice. I haven't seen any problems with it, the spamming thing was the spam bot, not my mods. And it's spweical cuz it haz an amazing looking bot :3

I prefer to let players learn how to post in the right areas by their-self :)

As we are a higher traffic site, it'd be more spammy. Also, some people may not wish to have a welcome thread, hence why not every new player posts one at the moment.

Besides, in my opinion, an automated welcome is a bit impersonal - Better to have real people welcome you.

I used to use macros for welcome...

Instead now I say "Ello player"
