Concerns of PvP.

Concerns of PvP.
It has come to my attention and apparently zerg's also the irreasonable amount of PvP at spawn. It may seem okay to you until someone steals the things that you worked hard for that was'nt even PvPing! As a solution there should be PvP areas. We also see the concern of PvP areas being annoying to have to go there for pvp. There is also the idea of adding a PvP map, but i do not recommend this seeming it would most likely take up server space, Ram, and it would probably be overly hard to code for zerg. So as a solution i was thinking, we could have the ability to make pvp arenas in our cities. It would be interesting for the ability of a mod to make a PvP zone if the owner of the arena agrees to doing so.

Some nice features:
1. Eligible size, 75x75
2. If you feel like it a gamemode! CTF, FFA, TDM etc..
3. Moderator tower (Moderator meaning the player who controls all of the features that might be included)
4. Easy to find!

Well I hope you all make your choices
Remember to tell why you chose your options in a reply!
Thank you for your concern,

PVPs are spawn are rather annoying when you get splash potions involved. Mebbe..

If you enable pvp by using /pvp you are sent into a 25x25 field where you can pvp away. Everything goes, potions ,
betraying and all that. Mebbe even change the terrain and build a castle, lava pits, water pits, cacti and that jazz. When you disable pvp, you will be sent /home in 15 seconds.

Same thing should go for /CTF, and /spleef (Would be nice if we had an automatic spleef regen)

Could build a colluseium outside of spawn.
Could be pretty good. Could design it to enable/disable other people entering.
..could add lava... and traps!
omnomnom.

Problems:
If we made spawn a "no-pvp" zone, people would just run into spawn to disable their pvp.
Highly Inactive at the moment.
I can be found here though. If you sign up, message me and I'll get you started.

Everyone got mad at me, well, not everyone. Damek, mostly. And stickguy.. anyway. They got mad at me when I even SUGGESTED that pvp be 'illegal' in spawn. Not everyone is going to like it/want it.

I know bonds, but i believe the high amounts of annoying PvP at spawn will hurt other players. Also on teamspeak it seams even zerg is not very happy about PvP at spawn.

I actually think Spawn is the only place that ought to have pvp be 'illegal.'
First off, I don't like the idea of players fearing going to spawn, because of the likelihood of people throwing potions around, possibly killing them. And not just items; They may be going to spawn with 50 experience, looking to enchant tools. Just standing around, busy, in the enchantment room, makes one an 'easy target' for potion spamming, then *poof* lots of hard work gone.
I'm also considering the first impression spawn pvp events make on our new players. They log in, and first thing they see is people running around trying to kill each other, and maybe get hit with a potion or two themselves. It's significantly less likely that that player will stick around.

If anything, pvp should be removed at least from the main spawn building. Maybe we could add in a pvp arena just outside spawn, for people to host these events.

As for item drops, it's a pretty touchy subject. People WILL complain when they lose their items; even when it's been made clear that it's a risk. And there will always be unfair players who exploit this risk. This all leads to drama, which is next to impossible to settle, without pissing off at least one person. On top of this, wasting a lot of time that could be spent responding to actual grief, or just being able to play the game.
I like the idea of keeping your items upon death, while in a marked pvp arena, and losing them elsewhere. (Like a 'wilderness' type deal.) Gives reasons for building pvp arenas, as well as prevents a lot of drama caused by players 'stealing' each-others items.

I agree with the above, but if people really want to PvP at spawn, can't it just be made so that both people need to have /pvp on to fight each other?

I do prefer the idea of an arena, though...
