It seems that I can break stone blocks at normal speed and the block next to it at a much lower speed. This is a recurring problem for a few layers now.
I used a diamond pickaxe. Enchanted and not enchanted doesn't make a difference. But when I place a torch on the blocks that mine at slow speed normally, they mine at normal speed again
(and vice versa)
