We don't need an SSD. We need. Moar RAM!

^Bunneh: Why would we get enterprise google SSD's. That would be silly. RAMdisk (not the enterprise ones that attach onto PCIe slots) is considerably faster than any ssd on the planet.

To mattme1: What exactly are you trying to argue here? The entire map will take no more than 30-40gb total when the worlds are combined after the "new world" is made. We can easily store the core server in the ram, the entire world on the SSD, and fast hard drives for backups. The backups are rarely used, only in the case of damaged data.

How much money do you think we have ? 2000$ nope right now we are barely cutting it this isn't even our top priority and just so you know dynamic memory isn't worth buying. When ddr5 comes out we dump the servers hard ware for new!

DDR5 Isn't coming out soon. anytime soon. heck, ddr4 hasn't come out yet. And the server is getting the "big" upgrade as zerg mentioned. We're not idiots. the upgrade for 64gb ram is about 300-400 bucks.

Zerg just picked up the creative server last night. I think he's going to take some parts out of it and build a server for survival. It had a 64GB(I think?) SSD in it, along w/ 32GB RAM, with an i7 6-core processor. I assume he'll be using all of these parts for it. It'll goto a data center, and hopefully run smoother than creative did.

32GB is enough space to hold the entire Server, so more RAM at this point is not needed. The bottleneck is either in the network traffic, or with the processing speed. The only thing memory-related that would speed it up would be a bigger cache, which is where the VERY MOST recent files are held, and much faster than RAM. Unfortunately cache memory is very small, and very expensive, so most of us probably have 64MB or less of cache space.

Money was the main reason of the server transfer. Just not enough funds to support a professionally hosted server. We'll see how it works!!

This thread's kind of pointless.

We've been running on an SSD for 14 months now.

So I have no idea what you're advocating.
