Alright, we've all failed to acknowledge the command /option logins no. If you're concerned about the messages kick generate it will get rid of the login messages which in turn gets rid of half the messages associated with kicks.

First I'd like to just ask, I thought Kreatious was a grief-free zone, but I was being griefed so hard earlier, I had to restart my whole client several times. It is because, every time the mods have a "kick/ban war" every time they kick someone, my game freezes for about 10 seconds.

What? how does this relate to kick wars? going from being greifed, to kick wars? what???

Even zerg likes kick wars. he's used a scoreboard from time to time to see who wins them. i don't think he's on board with stopping them.

I think kick wars are one of those things that are ok in small doses, but is pretty easy to get carried away by doing them too much.

At the very least though, I think that if mods are politely asked by one or more people to stop a kick war, then it should be stopped out of respect for the players. If no one objects to a kick war, no reason to stop it. I think that would be a fair compromise for both sides.

This. However, more than one complaint simply because there are people on the server that would say 'stop' because they don't want us to have fun. Also, if it's not polite, I don't really care...

aetherness Wrote:I have seen someone get a small ban for repeatedly logging in/out, because its spamming (the /ban reason was for spam).

This is something I'd do because when banned, they have to look at the reasoning before they try to log back on (instead of logging out and not seeing what we typed). This means that they will acknowledge that they are spamming and will hopefully stop.

All in all, I guess if a bunch of people complain, we should stop. However, people do need to realise that modding is actually tedious and can be stressful. Kicking a friend is actually a pretty good stress reliever, not because of the actual kick, but the messages being funny and the anticipation of the next kick and its reason.

MamaElm Wrote:I understand both of your arguments, but why kicking? I don't get it at all. How does abusing your power, spamming chat for everyone, help you blow off steam?

As for all the stress and time given, I appreciate what you guys do, but you have to realize it is just a game, it isn't your full time job to mod this server on minecraft, I can't see how any amount of stress could amount on you.

I mod several things, chatrooms on sites, forum sites for GuildWars, Guilds on Guildwars, a server on Minecraft, several smaller chatrooms, and there are always problems and questions to answer, but I never let it get me stressed out to the point that I'd take it out on my members.

I'd just like to start out by saying that from all that Ive noticed while being online, I really respect MamaElm, one of the most mature new players we've had in a long time. Kudos to you.

Regarding the argument:

First off, I enjoy my fair share of kick wars. I guess the best way to describe the reasoning behind it is the first kick is like an unavoidable joke to the other mod, typically pertaining to something going on in one of the staff chats. If the other mod retaliates, they are essentially accepting the challenge and want to continue. If they don't want to, it's dropped. So, both sides are voluntarily participating. I wouldn't dub it an abuse of power considering you are equal level with the other.

To an extent, it is stressful to mod the server during peak time. I can't entirely speak from experience being a chat mod, seeing as I only deal with spam, inappropriate language, and arguments. However, based on the sheer number of times I HAVEN'T been able to help someone because they need help with a messed up private sign, or someone griefing, or help with numerous other things, Ive come to understand just how much the mods do deal with. 9 times out of 10 the problems they deal with will take at least 5 minutes to sort out, normally 10, and in that time you have 2 more people who need help, so if you're a sole moderator on a full server, it can be quite a task. Also, when even us Cmods view web chat, we get to see ALL grief alerts, so although moderators don't see every grief report since the system handles some, you can only imagine how spammed their chat can be on a full server with griefers, people needing mods, and then the typical moderating chat in general. It continues to amaze me how they get anything accomplished for their own benefit.

Finally, and this isn't the perfect excuse, but one also has to take into account the fact that some of our Full mods have real life jobs to contend with, and most are just at the age where you work a lot and get paid little. As I said, not an always acceptable excuse, but I could easily see where that might add to the moderators desire to just have a little fun after a full day.

Is it technically abuse? In the sense of the word, Id have to say yes, seeing as the moderator(s) aren't getting any beneficial work done for the server and its members. However, I feel that it is justified in the fact that the mods spend the majority of their time online helping others, and will almost always stop if their assistance is needed elsewhere.

Kick-wars.. yeah, mods do need to have fun. Although, I don't really get stressed at all while modding, so I can't use the "I need to cool down excuse", but I mostly do it to have a little fun, and upen the mood of the server. As Icefang said, kickwars do usually happen late at night, when most people aren't really on.

Would I stop? Oh yeah, it's very easy to stop kick wars. I'm never really stressed by Modding, and when I am, I don't do kick wars to cool down. So I'd be happy to stop, although, some Moderators do enjoy blowing off stream by having some play kick/bans, and I'm not going to lie, it is fun. In the kick wars I've been in, people have been kicked 20+ times before. I can see how that could be annoying, but ./options login does wonders, especially in that situation.

I see your point, but I see the Moderator's points too, so I'm in the middle I suppose. I really don't think it's that much of a hassle, but if it truly is.. I'd be up to stop.

The mods never get to have FUN. That is alot of there fun. That kick/ban problem is your fault. You can resume chatting (just /ignore the mod) then continue. I don't lag or freeze when a kick or ban happens. That has to be something wrong with your computer or Minecraft.

Hell if you wanna to stop quick wars, make me a chatmoderator, i would be the ninja kicker with the Macro/keybind mod, every key on my keyboard would be set to every moderator i know that participate in kick wars, I would be the kicker denial man, no moderator would have chance to kick me in a kick war without several of them going down while I use the macros while listening to crazy frog's Axel F.

I don't understand why you keep asking for CMod. I'm pretty sure you have to earn it, unless Zerg is handing out ranks to whomever asks.. which is highly unlikely. Is this your new thing since no one wants any smartmovement mods?

It is because, every time the mods have a "kick/ban war" every time they kick someone, my game freezes for about 10 seconds. I don't know why this is, my connections are all fine, I never lag when it rains or when I'm in heavy movement areas, around water or lava. Nothing. Just when they are kicking people every 3 seconds.

So between kicks, I type out, tabbing to both of them to please stop, because it makes me lag really bad. They ignored me for several moments, and continued kicking. Which is ridiculous in itself.

why is this spam,
Player1: lol
Player1: yeah that
Player1: oops hit enter by accident
Player1 has been kicked for spamming

but this isn't?
Mod1 kicked Mod2 haha its 7oclock
Mod2 left the server
Mod2 joined the server
Mod2 kicked mod1 no its only 4
Mod1 left the server
Mod1 joined the server
Mod1 kicked Mod2 LAIZZZZ
Mod2 left the server
Mod2 joined the server
Mod2 kicked Mod1 Lol she says we can't kick
Mod1 left the server
Mod1 joined the server
Mod1 kicked Mod2 lol but we can
Mod2 left the server
Mod2 joined the server
Mod2 banned Mod1 0 seconds if we can't kick, then we'll ban!
Mod1 left the server
Mod1 joined the server

Even if this didn't make me lag so bad, it is extremely annoying. It floods the entire chat and forces you to sit back and wait until they calm down until you can resume chatting.

It wouldn't annoy me so much, but every time I've politely asked them to stop, they either ignore me, or tell me that kick wars have always happened in Kreatious. Why is that a reason for them to continue?

So basically, I think that (especially because it seems Kreatious has like 30 mods), that they should not be able to abuse their kicking and banning powers like this. Because it is annoying, visually disruptive, and it makes me lag.

(I am in no way telling mods what to do, I am presenting my argument here on the table for all to see, and I'd like to know if anyone else feels the same)
I love this server, no one breaking my stuff, a friendly community for the most part, cool TPs and Cities to explore. So far, these ridiculous kick/ban wars are the only thing I absolutely despise about the server. I'm trying to get settled in, and finish some projects, and I was intending to donate some money because honestly this server seems the best, but if the mods are going to freeze me up for 15+ minutes every evening, I'm just going to have to find somewhere else.

This does generate alot of lag for the server though with the rate of the commands being entered which can really hog up the server's CPU, this would explain why the server finds the Pistol hidden in the kitchen drawer's then proceeds to shoot itself in the head, it cant handle these kick wars alongside all the other players using their commands.

The server commits suicide because the responsible child is away while its stuck with the spoiled children.

Seriously though, the privilege to kick someone should not be abused for fun, Its to be used responsibly as the fact it is not a toy! I say stop the accursed kick wars or alot of us will go straight to zerg to complain and I am sure he doesn't wanna hear people complaining about moderators overusing their privileges. Duke it out like the rest of us with PVP in an Arena
