Can't connect- help needed.

I have had a long break of playing and I came back to find there had been an update: 1.7.2. I have the latest version of
Java and I have also reinstalled Minecraft. On the "play Multiplayer" I get can't connect to server; if I try to log in it will either be on logging in forever or I will get the message "internal exception: java.io.IOException: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. Hopefully I'm not being stupid and missing something obvious but I am out of ideas, therefore any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It was the MOTD, but I guess zerg changed it. But yeah.. Server is currently on 1.6.4, bukkit has not updated yet for us to update to 1.7

So you'll have to downgrade to 1.6.4 or wait.

Expect the server to update sometime after bukkit does.
