Regarding Optifine

by emeraldcreeper10 » Thu Aug 20, 2015 5:14 am

Hi guys,

So I've just recently reinstalled Windows due to viruses. I was unable to access any web browser either, as it was laggy and there were many malicious pop-ups. Now I've gotten to the point of installing Optifine. I found this to be a piece of cake on my first time; Simply download it, open the Optifine installer, and save your Minecraft profile, but that's not the case right now. I am using Minecraft Version 1.8.8 right now and installing Optifine 1.8.8. After skipping the Adfly page, I download Optifine and when I open it, this comes up:

https://gyazo.com/e9a04435e5e02ff25852de9f6be15bfe

For some reason, upon opening the file it brings me to this, rather than the "Install Optifine" tab. I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or help me out. Thanks.

Edit: I just installed Java, still no luck. Open to suggestions.

You must really want viruses/malware to be using Internet Explorer lol

When you downloaded the file, IE is holding it temporarily and waiting for you to tell it what to do with it.
That is what that window is.

If you want to keep the file, just tell IE where to "save" it
If you wanting to keep and rename the file, tell IE to "save as"
if you just want to run the file and not keep it, tell IE to "open" it

Well, it saves as an IE file, but when I click it, normally as shown in tutorials a Optifine installation screen would come up. It doesn't for me. :/
